Everyone understands that a car should have an oil change every 3000 miles. Someone could wait to have the oil changed after 18,000 miles and pay the same $49.99 for the service but your automobile will probably not run the same as if you had the routine maintanence that is recommended. You don’t wait until there is a problem because this could be very expensive and inconvenient. The same thought process should happen with cleaning your carpets.
Here are some guidleines for carpet cleaning maintanence:
I will start with the best case scenario. Even if a carpet gets no traffic it is subject to dust and other environmental contaminants. You should clean the carpets in your home every year if you have only one or two people in your home with no pets and are a non smoker.
Option number 2 is every nine months. Professional carpet cleaning is needed if you have children or the adults are smokers. A family this size brings in enough soil and outside dirt the suggests a good cleaning more than once a year.
Clean your carpet every six months if you have kids, adults that smoke and now have added pets to the equation. The combinations of these factors makes twice yearly.
Finally there is the three month interval. This is for homes that have pets, kids and smokers. If this is the case three months is the maximum you should go between cleanings as these factors are rough on a carpet and a home. You might be able to extent this out a couple months if you have a great no shoes policy for your home.
I know this sounds like an expensive proposition but if you shop around and work with a professional company that would love to have your regular business and I am sure they would be willing to offer good discounts.
